I had no idea what I wanted to do and the idea of going to work just anywhere was not very appealing! It had to be something that would make me get out of bed and be ready to go- what it was I had no clue.

While visiting with Jill at her home it HIT me! I had always admired the monogramming work that Jill did and bought monogrammed gifts from her through the years. I traveled with her to Toy Fair in New York and loved her cute little store in Rockwall-in fact I was there when she set up shop-putting all of those cute dolls and pretty things out for display. I realized that this was something that I would enjoy doing and since she already had the embroidery machine we were set up. I would be motivated to go to work! Jill advised me about the pros and cons of being in BUSINESS for yourself, especially the cons (bookkeeping, buying inventory, more bookkeeping, etc). I listened to everything she said but was not discouraged! She agreed to go back into business with me as her partner. So let the work begin and begin it did!!! We signed our partnership agreement, wrote our business plan, did our marketing research, set up vendor accounts, and bought inventory all the while thinking we would get the website we needed built by someone else!!! That was not to be the case and we ended up building our own e-commerce website, creating graphics, taking pictures and writing descriptions of our entire inventory. After almost five months we were able to OPEN FOR BUSINESS on the internet! It has been a challenge but we have been up for the challenge! We revel in our accomplishments, glad that we are in this together - it is much easier figuring things out with two minds (the old adage - two heads are better than one still holds true). Adding this blog has opened up another avenue of communication as we nurture and grow Classic Treasures of Arizona. Thanks for joining us on our journey.

By: Linda E. We have established this blog to share news about Classic Treasures of Arizona with all our family and friends. Let me start with a little background to get things underway. Twelve years ago, I purchased a commercial embroidery machine along with the software and supplies necessary to open shop as Needleworks. I began in my home in Nashville, TN and then moved to Brentwood, TN and Poplar Bluff, MO within 3 years. Our moves were always related to my husband Gene’s career, not my own as I was a stay-at-home Mom even with the addition of embroidery into my life. I did graduate from Louisiana State University with a degree in Physical Education and English. I am still a die-hard Tiger fan through and through.

In Poplar Bluff I acquired a retail storefront called “Mother’s Dolls and Treasures”. This acquisition introduced me to the world of dolls both new and old and I added my embroidery business to the mix. The doll world was something I knew little about other than the Barbie and Madame Alexander I had as a child. I did realize right away that this was an arena that interested me. My grandmother, Edwina “Mom” Menefee loved dolls and must be where the genes came from as my own mother was a tomboy. Mom also liked to sew and decorate as I do. She was all things frou-frou and that is just my cup of tea.

I moved to Heath, TX after 2 yrs. in Missouri and opened "Jill's Dolls and Treasures" in a historic village near downtown Rockwall. The store had new dolls, baby gifts, toys, and accessories for young girls along with monogramming. I closed the store in Nov. 2003. Several months later Gene and I decided to sell the house and move to Arizona. We finally made it here in May 2007.

After being in business off and on by myself through the years, I had decided to bid a fond farewell to the retail business. That decision had been made after much thought and deliberation. Then ...... I moved to Chandler to be near my sister and best friend, Linda. I still had the embroidery machine and all the trappings of the business. She was interested in going into business, so we mulled it over for three months and finally decided that we really love babies and children and all the cute little things that go with them. In October of 2007, we officially decided to open Classic Treasures of Arizona and bought the domain name for our website. Since that time we have been introduced to the world of website building, graphics, images, html, and all things technological. We have high-fived each other when we "got" something and revel in the fact that we conquer new territory each day.

We built our website and launched it in late February 2008. It is a work in progress as we tweak it here and there almost daily. This blog is our latest venture and we hope you will join us on our journey.

By Jill E.
